With the New Marton Locks closing for urgent repairs, and the Llangollen Canal already isolated due to the Whitchurch breach, I need to get through before the stoppage begins… or risk being stuck on this small section for weeks. Along the way I cross the stunning Chirk Aqueduct, pass through both Whitehouse Tunnel and Chirk Tunnel, and moor up at Chirk Bank where Gabby joins me for a land-based adventure. Together we explore the fascinating Chirk Castle — packed with history, hauntings, and borderland drama — before finishing the day at The Bridge Inn… the last pub in England, overlooking the aqueduct and viaduct with some of the best views on the canal.
